Recent developments in the USA

09/29/2016

One year ago a team of 3 Tebodin employees moved to the USA to support Bilfinger Industrial Services efforts to increase Bilfinger’s engineering footprint in the Americas. Where do they stand now?

Through collaboration and sharing experience, knowledge and connections, engineering within Bilfinger Industrial Services has seen an increase in both the size and number of project opportunities with internationally operating clients, as well as with local clients. Larger projects (over 2,000 man hours) were recently won at sites of multinational chemical and pharmaceutical companies, and at a large production facility of a US defense and aerospace company.

On track for future growth
‘This required the organization to further develop project management execution capabilities,’ reflects Sander Stolk, project delivery manager. ‘The past year efforts have been made to align the engineering in the US with the Tebodin execution model in order to present a more coherent proposition to the market for larger engineering projects. We are supporting the HR initiative on the implementation of PMI-based project management to facilitate larger projects for international clients more efficiently. Overall, the engineering team (currently around 100 engineers) is on the right track for the targeted future growth.’

Recent success
The US team will continue to target strategic relationships with multinationals through the international Bilfinger network. Recent successes include the negotiation of a framework contract with one of the largest agricultural produce companies to provide engineering services for investments worldwide. The option to offer ‘best value’ solutions also received positive responses from clients; the first project in cooperation with the Tebodin office in Ukraine is in the making. Joint proposal efforts with Tebodin’s Czech Republic office led to a ‘photo finish’ second place for a very large opportunity for a flavors and fragrance company. And finally, several design and build opportunities have been generated together with the Construction division of Bilfinger Industrial Services.

All in all the team can reflect on a productive year, and is looking forward to continuing its efforts to increase the engineering footprint in the USA.
