News release: M-plastics first to receive Cradle to Cradle certification in the agri and horticultural sector

M-plastics announces that it has been awarded Cradle to Cradle certification for its packaging products, the first such certification in the agri and horticultural sector. Director Paul Schildmeijer of the Dutch manufacturer of high-quality plastic packaging products for agriculture and horticulture: 'With this Cradle to Cradle certification at Silver level, M-plastics marks a significant step forward towards the sustainability of its production process, which is already CO2-neutral. Our goal is to be a frontrunner in corporate social responsibility and clearly demonstrate to our customers that the production process of our packaging products is fully sustainable and environment-friendly.'

Consulting and engineering firm Tebodin, a Bilfinger company, was M-plastics’s supporting partner during the certification process. On September 4, 2017,  Director  Paul Schildmeijer received the Cradle to Cradle certificate from Mariska van Dalen, one of Tebodin’s accredited Cradle to Cradle assessors.

Frontrunners in the industry
M-plastics’s Cradle to Cradle certification is based on Tebodin’s assessment of the entire production process in terms of material health and reutilization, the use of renewable energy, water stewardship and social fairness towards stakeholders such as employees and the local community. M-plastics extends the lifespan of its plastic packaging products through unlimited recycling.
Paul Schildmeijer: 'We will continue to increase the sustainability of M-plastics products and aim to maintain our position as frontrunners in the industry. There is a rapidly increasing demand for sustainable products from the retail sector.'
