Bilfinger signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Westinghouse Electric Company for the several ongoing and planned nuclear projects in CEE


The global industrial services provider Bilfinger has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Westinghouse Electric Company one of the world's leading supplier of safe, innovative nuclear technology. The Memorandum, signed under patronage of Embassy of the USA in the Czech Republic last week, is related to the nuclear new build opportunities in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia and Ukraine.

"The crises in the energy sector moves the economies towards new, economical and carbon free solutions. Partnering with Westinghouse can bring for Bilfinger a lot of opportunities to participate on big interesting projects of our region in near future,” said Jaromír Kříž, CEO of Bilfinger Tebodin CEE.

Bilfinger specializes notably in nuclear piping and equipment, nuclear waste treatment, consultancy and engineering support, electrical and automation, insulation, scaffolding, access activities and industrial painting. Part of the services, notably engineering and consultancy, or mechanical, insulation and installation works will be provided by Bilfinger’s affiliated companies Bilfinger Tebodin, Bilfinger Industrial Services and Multiserwis that are located in CEE region.

Dukovany is one of the ongoing tenders

One of the important current projects is an ongoing tender for the potential construction of a new nuclear reactor on the Dukovany nuclear power plant site, where Westinghouse is one of the three bidders. "The involvement of the Czech industry in the construction of the Dukovany unit is absolutely crucial for us. Czech industry and companies have a wealth of experience and know-how in the construction of nuclear power plants, which we want to make the most of," said Mike Coon, Westinghouse Vice President for New Energy Projects.
