Saving energy is the best way to reduce CO2 emissions

On January 31, the Dutch Ministry of Economic affairs and Climate Policy organized the event: ‘Partners in energie-uitdagingen’ (Partners in energy challenges). Over 500 participants from business as well as from the government took part in the event, at which Ed Nijpels was key-note speaker.

The subject of the event was the new legislation in the Netherlands: ‘Informatieplicht’ (Obligation to provide information). Dutch companies and institutions are according to the Energy Efficiency Directive obligated to implement all possible energy-saving measures which have a payback time of 5 years or less.

As of July 1, 2019, according to the new legislation, approximately 125,000 companies and institutions in the Netherlands must have reported their energy savings measures to the government.

René de Schutter, BD & Sales Manager Energy & Environment was speaker at the event in his role as chairman of FedEC, the Dutch Federation of Energy Consultants and gave two interactive presentations about the new legislation and about energy savings. The main message was: ‘Saving energy is the best way to reduce CO2 emissions’.

René de Schutter: ‘As chairman of the FedEC, the event was an excellent opportunity to show the important role that energy consultants can play for the industry in energy transition’
