Press release: Bilfinger Tebodin designs the largest dairy plant of TH Group in Russia
On September 7, the groundbreaking ceremony for a large milk processing plant of the Vietnamese company TH Group was held. With a production capacity of 1,500 tons of milk products per day, the new plant in the Kaluga region will become the largest milk processing plants so far in Russia. The construction of the plant is planned to be finished in 2021. Bilfinger Tebodin has been awarded the contract for the general design of the plant and consulting services.
When fully operational, the plant will produce over 10 types of products, including fresh milk, cheese, butter, sour cream, yogurt nut milk, ice cream and others. The raw milk to be used for processing will come from the two TH Milk Dairy Farms in Volokolamsk and Kaluga region. The total investment for the new milk plant is 155 million dollars.
3 phases of production development
The new factory building with a floor area of 40,000 m2 will be designed and constructed to its full capacity into 3 phases:
- Phase 1 is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2019. Planned production by then: 500 tons/day;
- Phase 2: expansion is planned to be finished by 2020. Planned production by then: 1,000 tons/day;
- The third and final phase is finished by 2021. Planned production by then is 1,500 tons/day.
The plant will be built, taking into consideration all the necessary facilities of a high-end dairy plant such as production and packaging areas, raw milk reception and storage, processing lines, packaging lines, cold storage for finished products, an automated warehouse, administrative buildings and many more. Thanks to the automation of production, manual processes will be minimized.
Bilfinger Tebodin’s scope of work includes the concept and basic design, engineering surveys, tender documentation for selection of the general contractor, and technical consulting for permits. During the entire design phase of the project, BIM (Building Information Modeling), an advanced tool in design technology, will be used to ensure a high quality and a good control, meeting the client’s requirements.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Mdm Thai Huong, the Chairwoman of TH Group.
Vyacheslav Senichev, Director Engineering at Bilfinger Tebodin presented the concept of the project in the will look like. He outlined the importance of the project for both companies. ‘This project is the first collaboration between TH Group and Bilfinger Tebodin. For TH Group, it’s a landmark for the Russian dairy industry: firstly, the plant in the Kaluga region will be the largest in the country and secondly, the project will be an important step in the development of economic relations between Russia and Vietnam. The project gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our strong capability in dairy plant design by using high-tech tools’.
