My career start as an architect

Tell us about yourself!

Hi! My name is Daria Osadchaya. In 2017 I moved from my hometown to Rostov-on-Don, Russia, and entered the Don State Technical University at the Faculty of the School of Architecture, Design and Arts. In 2020, I graduated with a degree in Design of Buildings and Structures. In 2021, I started my traineeship at Bilfinger Tebodin and this was my first workplace.

Why did you choose Bilfinger Tebodin for a traineeship?

During my studies, I attended the job fair held at the university several times, there I learned about Bilfinger Tebodin. After some time, my brother started working for this company, so I had an idea of some of its specifics. My acquaintances who heard or worked at Bilfinger Tebodin spoke very well of it, so I certainly had the thought of a traineeship there.

What was the most interesting for you during the traineeship? What is most remembered?

My traineeship was at the Architectural Department as an architect. The most interesting was the involvement in the course of work, acquaintance with the principles of the company and observation of the work process, the interaction of employees with each other. Undoubtedly, the most interesting and important was the study of the design rules and design directly in practice, as well as the development of skills in the work programs.

What can you tell about your work after the traineeship?

At the end of my traineeship, I was hired as an architect. At the moment, I'm working on the same project I worked on during the training - but I certainly feel that now I have more responsible and challenging assignments with respect to what has been previously. But that doesn't scare me, I am delighted to strive to develop my design skills and grow as an architect.

What has become valuable for you company?

During the traineeship, I liked to watch the work process at Bilfinger Tebodin, and most valuable to me was to see a comfortable and respectful atmosphere between employees. It seems to me that the policy of openness, support for each other and exchange of experience is very important.

What can you advise future trainees?

Seemingly simple, but very important advice - never be afraid to ask your manager or your colleagues questions. Believe me, I know the feeling, when you come to a dead end when performing the task, which is especially typical for the trainees, who had only recently graduated from university. But don't worry! I can say with confidence that Bilfinger Tebodin team are always willing to answer questions and gladly share their experience.
