Joining Bilfinger Tebodin and the Van Iterson Institute

After graduating my studies Safety and Security Management, I was looking for a job where there was an opportunity to create or contribute to building something. An engineering firm seemed like a good choice. Luckily, there was a job opening at Bilfinger Tebodin and I was fortunate enough to be hired. So far, it has been very rewarding.

Gaining practical experience from the start

I started my career as a Consultant Fire Safety at Bilfinger Tebodin in December 2021. One of the first projects I worked on was to create a fire safety plan for a storage facility in the Netherlands. Under guidance of my colleagues, I tested the complete site against the building code and drafted the fire safety plan ensuring the client complies with laws and regulations. I am very proud of the result and happy to have gotten the opportunity to gain this practical experience from the start. After just a few months, I can already say that Bilfinger Tebodin is the right company for me to create.

Enrolling in the Van Iterson Institute

In June, I will start as one of the first consultants joining the Van Iterson Institute. The Van Iterson Institute is a company driven learning institution developed by Bilfinger Tebodin in which consultants follow a multi-year program focused on the development of personal skills, abilities and knowledge. I chose to enroll in the Van Iterson Institute because the multi-disciplinary aspect of the program appeals to me. In my current advisory cell Fire and External Safety, it is possible to stay within your discipline but I enjoy working together with other disciplines and give a more wholesome advice to our clients. I also feel it will help me in my career to learn about the other Consultancy departments and possibly assist them in the future. That way I will be able to provide clients with the best quality advice.

I am excited to start the Van Iterson Institute and look forward to expanding my knowledge about industrial consultancy.
