Hi, my name is Artem and my career at Bilfinger Tebodin started in 2018. This year, I’ve finished a university bachelor’s program as a civil engineer and started to take steps towards getting a master's degree. While studying, I was taking part in different science conferences, hard skill courses and was writing articles on the topic of construction. Nevertheless, I constantly realized that in my education program I missed a huge and important part – practical experience.
During the summer, I started looking for a place that could allow me to fill this gap. Like any graduate, I wanted to get a traineeship at the most promising and technologically advanced company to self-actualize as much as possible. I wanted to create something significant and the first step in this direction was especially important for me.
Many design companies who wanted to attract future specialists through traineeship programs came to our university. One of them was especially memorable. Its’ representatives talked about the use of BIM technologies, presented projects of completed buildings, huge factories and commercial complexes, and also made it clear that they were really waiting for us. After that I didn’t think twice - I knew exactly where I wanted to go. And you, of course, already know the name of this firm.
I came to Bilfinger Tebodin as a trainee architect in the engineering department. My first project was a meat processing plant. It was at the final stage and I was asked to refine last solutions. First of all, I was struck by the precision of the design of the project, its’ model and drawings. Every element of the wall, plinth, the openings for engineering networks - all this was created and assembled with great effort for maximum accuracy of all solutions. I understand for sure that what I see now is the future of the entire construction industry for years to come.
This is what I value most about Bilfinger Tebodin: you can have any ideas and goals and you will always be supported
Of course, it was hard for me to delve into such complex development from the very beginning, but the feeling that I was entrusted with this and the caring help from other architects and engineers did the job. I managed to go through the first steps in real design, which became the foundation of my current skills and experience.
After my traineeship, I worked as a freelancer for a while, and then, in the middle of my studies, I was hired for a full-time job. It was not easy to combine studies and work, but when you are charged with ideas, when you get new experience every day and your colleagues support and help you in your development, you understand that everything is possible.
Now I have successfully completed my master's degree and have experience working on more than a dozen projects - from small ports and warehouse complexes, to the largest factories in Europe. With the help of the traineeship program in the company, I developed my hard skills, gained experience in architecture and BIM modelling, worked as part of a great team, improved my English skills and got opportunities for constant self-development.
This is what I value most about Bilfinger Tebodin: you can have any ideas and goals and you will always be supported. You will be given the opportunity to become exactly who you want to be, to grow any direction you choose and get the first-hand experience in such complex and rapidly developing area as engineering.
The most important is not to be afraid to take the first step. First, you might think it is impossible to start your career in one of the fastest growing industries of the 21st century and to work on the most technologically advanced projects together with leading specialists. Then you do it at Bilfinger Tebodin and know that you can do anything.
