City heating pipeline - Westelijke Tuinsteden
Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Bilfinger Tebodin executed the basic and detail engineering of a city heating pipeline with the heat coming from the waste incineration plant of AEB. With a total length of 12 km the pipeline is situated in the densely populated Westelijke Tuinsteden in Amsterdam. The amount of space for the routing of the DN300 to DN500 pipelines was very limited, therefor several large SIS Horizontal Directional Drillings were used in the routing.

Additionally an unusual high amount of stakeholders were involved. In total, 20.500 man hours were spent for a project that was executed in three phases, included obtaining the necessary permits and assistance in construction management.

Bilfinger Tebodin also performed the basic and detail engineering of a pipeline of 16 km from the Diemen plant of Nuon to a heat transfer station in Almere, which included the crossing of a dyke and a large crossing of the IJmeer. The engineering included an extensive QHSE-plan, a risk inventory and evaluation with the client and a cost estimate.
