HVC is a waste and energy company that captures heat released during the waste disposal process and transports it through pipelines where it is used for district heating. 

District heating is a safe, reliable method of heating that reduces CO2 emissions and is more cost efficient than gas. Bilfinger Tebodin was responsible for the routing and detail engineering of the HVC district heating network to the industrial area in Alkmaar, north of Amsterdam, which includes the football stadium for AZ Alkmaar and to the north of Alkmaar. Additionally, the network has been extended in several spin-offs.

The network crosses waterways, roads, railways, industrial and developed residential area. Therefore, communication with stakeholders like the municipalities has been provided by Bilfinger Tebodin.
