LOTOS

High-profile extension to the existing refinery
Gdańsk, Poland

LOTOS initiated the multidisciplinary project EFRA to improve the effectiveness of its refinery, maximizing the use of the heavier by-products and minimizing the refinery’s environmental footprint. The aim is also to obtain more fuel from each barrel.
Bilfinger Tebodin was appointed to supervise the entire project divided into 7 areas: coking system complex, Hydrogen generation unit, HVDU, Installations and support systems, Inter-facility connections (pipelines) and tanks, general infrastructure and underground utilities, Systems (teletechnical) and buildings

A delayed coking unit plus additional infrastructure have been built to process residual heavy oil feeds. The unit will produce 350,000 tons annually of petroleum coke – a new product for LOTOS.
